Worldwide Health Insurance Primer
Posted by Dan Miller in 1 on March 5th, 2010
If you spend extended period of time overseas, or if you are a non-US citizen who spends long periods of time in the US, you should consider what type of health insurance will best meet your coverage needs. Those who spend at least six months at a time traveling abroad may not be covered by the same health insurance plan that they have in their home country.
Travelers should consider purchasing an worldwide health insurance plan before leaving home, whether they are traveling for business or for pleasure. No matter where you travel, by protecting yourself and your family with international insurance, you can feel confident that you and your family will receive affordable, high-quality medical care.
Long term overseas health insurance is different from short term travel insurance plans in that it offers coverage for preventative care after a waiting period, in addition to the emergency care coverage typically found in other plans. While traveling overseas, you can utilize low-cost doctor visits and a high level of coverage for annual health screenings and medical care.
Plans that include worldwide travel insurance, like those offered by Global Citizen, typically offer a wide range of coverage, including deductibles that can range from $0 for Elite customers up to $25,000 for the lower-tier plans. Having the flexibility to select a deductible you are comfortable with is important to consider when you are planning for an extended stay overseas.
For those who plan on returning to their home country for short visits during their stay abroad, worldwide health insurance for long term trips often includes coverage for care in the US and outside of the US. With this kind of coverage, travelers can go back and forth seamlessly without any gaps in coverage.
With travel health insurance, coverage is offered for surgery, inpatient care, physical therapy and prescriptions, and includes coverage for doctor visits. Reducing your medical bills and receiving quality medical care while in a different country allows you to save money while traveling overseas.
To protect you and your family while traveling abroad, worldwide health insurance plans offer affordable rates and many deductible options. You won’t have to worry about traveling back and forth between the US and your home country, you will be protected during your entire stay.
Be sure to consider the importance of purchasing a overseas health insurance plan for you and your family when preparing for an extended stay in another country. No matter where you travel, protect yourself and stay healthy with affordable health insurance that allows to feel confident that your needs will be covered.

Profitable Sports Gambling Begins With Discipline
Posted by Ross Everett in Currency & Finance on February 28th, 2010
There’s a strange dichotomy between the complexity of high level sports handicapping and the amount of theoretical literature on the subject. While successful sports betting is a complex and difficult pursuit, there’s very little that’s been written on the subject from a serious theoretical angle. For that reason, it can be helpful to delve into the wealth of books available to the serious poker player for insights that can be applied to sports betting.
On one level, this is likely due to the fact that poker”like sports gambling”is a pursuit in which the knowledgeable and skillful practitioner can overcome the theoretical odds against him. To paraphrase the great poker theoretician Bob Caro, there are some professional blackjack players and sports gamblers in addition to professional poker players. There may even be a few professional horse players (though the house edge against the horse player is a hefty 17% or so). In the entire world, however, there is not one professional roulette player.
The reason for that is that the house advantage in roulette is too high to overcome by any combination of skill, money management, strategy or discipline. To throw in another Caro concept, its a case where the decisions made by the roulette player simply don’t have a role in overcoming the house advantage. Over the long haul whether you choose red or black, even or odd the house edge remains the same.
Caro argues that one of the poker players most valuable weapons is discipline at the table. The reason for this is that the average person goes into a casino for precisely the opposite reason”he wants to have some downtime away from the discipline and order that circumscribes the rest of his life. He wants to down a few cocktails, leer at some cocktail waitresses, and throw some money around for awhile. Hes not worried about theoretical return on investment, pot odds or other concepts of serious play. Casinos exist for the sole reason of providing him all of the escapism he wants while they slowly use their house advantage to make a profit off of him. Granted, poker operates differently in terms of the house advantage but the motivation that drives the recreational gambler to the poker table is no different than that which drives him to the slot machines or blackjack layout.
Caro’s emphasis on discipline in poker is also true for the serious sports gambler. The foundation of a professional sports bettor’s long term success is to approach it with the same discipline, rigor and professionalism that he would any other job. If you continue to think about it in the same terms as the recreational gambler does, you’re in for a difficult road. The more seriousness that you bring to your sports betting, the higher the likelihood that you’ll be successful.
This isn’t to say that there’s anything wrong with being a recreational sports gambler. In fact, those of us who do this professionally *need* recreational players–they’re the financial lifeblood of the casino and sportsbook industry. Handicapping sports would be pretty pointless without a bookmaker to take our bets.
The life of a professional sports bettor isn’t for everyone, and if you just want to bet recreationally and have fun with it that’s great. While a few theoretical tips here and there won’t hurt, the only discipline that really matters for a recreational player is the same thing for any other hobby–don’t spend more on it than you can afford to. After that, you’re on your own to have fun with it.

Portland Movers And Locksmiths And Why To Use Them
Posted by Terry Anderson in Currency & Finance on February 11th, 2010
Here it is, time for my family to make a move. We must go to a smaller house because my job downsized and we have no choice. We are to use the services of some Portland movers and locksmiths because it will make it easier for me. I am not as young as I used to be and moving furniture is hard on my back.
With all that is worrying you right now, why add another worry? The individuals who are employed by the moving industry are there to be utilized. Their services involve moving and wrapping any furniture which might be delicate or needs to be handled with care. Are family heirlooms an issue? Then feel good about employing these people to help you.
One thing is for sure, when you move, you realize just how much stuff you have. Lamps, clothing, chairs, tables, glasses, trinkets, we store them in the attic and the basement. We never think a move is coming and then when it does, we get frustrated. You definitely want a company which will care for your things and also have a fair price.
One of the best ways to find out whether a business is reputable or not, is simply by word of mouth. Former customers are usually glad to tell you the experience they have had with a company whether it is good or bad. That is what is so wonderful about people, they love to talk. Ask them who moved them. Find out how the personnel handled their belongings. This will give you information to make a thorough decision.
If you feel you need more information, then the good old phone book is a great idea. Some think the phone book is archaic but, that does not mean it can not be a fantastic source of knowledge. Look up some companies and inquire about their services. There is nothing wrong with asking questions.
This generation is very hung up on the Internet. The Internet has a wealth of information. There is more information on there than you can research in ten life times! If you have issues with moving a more delicate piece of furniture, or you want to be sure your grandmother’s dishes will be packaged with care, you can find the right movers and locksmiths for you. Just take the time to look.
The reputable Portland mover companies have been around for quite a few years. They have been doing this type of work and make a living for themselves helping others to transition easily. Give them the chance to help you move efficiently. You will be glad you did.

Travel Insurance Quota: Tips On How To Earn Double Your Present Salary
Posted by Adriana Noton in Currency & Finance on February 3rd, 2010
As a sales person selling insurance to travelers you will want to at least meet your allotted travel insurance quote if not exceed it. The best way to achieve your objectives is to follow whatever useful tips you are able to find that should hopefully point you in the direction that will help you earn considerable amount of money. Only those sales persons that know the art of making a sale will be in a position to earn double what they normally earn. In fact, one point of curiosity for each travel insurance salesman is whether they can through dint of hard work learn how to earn in six figures.
Without a doubt, most sales persons that sell travel insurance are known to be more confused than clear about how to improve their selling abilities. Unless the fine art of salesmanship is mastered there is not much hope of achieving and exceeding quotas set by the management. This in turn means that you must be careful that you always let your client know how much you care for their well being and that you are not just a salesperson out to make a quick sale.
This means as a committed sales person you must ensure that you bring to the client all the promises that they have read about in the company brochures and also in the billboard advertisements. You should even consider selling your travel insurance policies in the same way that a fast food restaurant makes their hamburgers or to do the same things as are applicable when manufacturing widgets.
As a person with the job of selling travel insurance it is important that you do not succumb to the pressures that your seniors will be exerting on you to make more sales and that too in the shortest possible time.
There are fortunately many effective ways to increase your sales and so you have to look beyond simply handing your business cards to clients and ensuring that you are punctual in meeting with the client. These are obvious sales methods that will help you achieve a few minor successes but will not give you that six figure salary.
What you need to do is to do things in a way that you like and which helps in closing a deal. You should even use software that will help show you how to make more effective presentations and which helps to teach you how you can illustrate the benefits of the travel insurance policy that you are selling.
Once you get the hang of it, you should easily meet your travel insurance quota and also exceed it by a wide margin.

Houston Movers Love To Offer Full Service Moves
Posted by Laura Daniels in Currency & Finance on January 23rd, 2010
In Houston, you can find piano movers that charge by the hour, movers that charge by the piece, and movers that offer a flat rate. You can even find movers that moonlight as firefighters. There are many ways to move with Houston movers.
The typical hourly rate for a crew of two is close to $75.00 and $95.00 or more for a crew of 3. Always choose a 3 man crew unless your move is small with nothing heavy. Three men help speed up the job and more guys walking to the truck means the less time the truck is unattended.
Being prepared on moving day is beneficial in so many ways. Being prepared means you can finish at 7:00 p. M instead of two in the morning. Being prepared will keep complications to a minimum. Complications can include unexpected charges (such as packing material) and unnecessary breakage just to name a few. If you are still packing on moving day, you won’t be able to supervise the move and make sure your orders are being followed. If you have not arranged a safe, convenient place for your movers to park their truck, they could be stuck walking you things very far.
Always pack well in advance. Moving is a big job and the more time you have to prepare for it, the better it will be. The minute you know you will be moving, start preparing, even if your move is 6 months away.
If you can prepare your move this much in advance, consider yourself lucky. If you book your move early, you won’t be stuck with high rates. Start packing the things you know you won’t need. Start tossing the items you know you will throw away. You can collect similar items in the same boxes and pack more effectively.
There are more reasons to pack early than not. Planned packing makes your move more organized and efficient. Your boxes will be better organized and you will know where everything is. You will be able to collect packing material for free or at lower cost since you can start saving supplies early. Also, the chore of unpacking will be much easier, because instead of throwing various things in boxes from all over the house, your boxes will packed with similar contents that will be put away in the same place.
It just makes sense to prepare early and pack early and carefully. Pack each box as if you expect it to be dropped. Remember to always start packing the things you know you will not need first. Label the top of the box with a brief description of what is inside. You will be so glad you did.

Factors To Consider In Travel Insurance – Validity Of The Travel Insurance
Posted by Susan Reynolds in Currency & Finance on January 12th, 2010
Before you embark on travel it will be a good idea to avail travel insurance coverage. After all, you do not know when need might arise for it. However it could be confusing and trying to make a right choice. Main consideration is the duration for which toy want to take the travel insurance. This duration will depend upon the type of policy you choose. There are essentially three types of travel insurance policies which are single trip, annual multi-tripand extended stay. It will be valuable to have knowledge of three types so that you can make a right choice.
Travel insurance policy for single trip covers you for a single return journey. For children insurance these policies also offer discounts. Children are covered for free also. The only condition to be fulfilled is that they should be traveling with an adult, who has also insured with the same policy.
For those of you who have to travel more often the best choice to be considered is Annual multi-trip policy. This enables you to travel frequently, even covering travel times of 24 to 90 days. It actually save you a good amount of money by avoiding extra cost. When you see that children are also covered without any charge and you are saved the trouble of buying policy each time you travel the advantage is obvious. It saves you from extra costs and is inexpensive.
There is another policy which suits best for students, backpackers, or the ones looking for a career break. It is called Extended stay policy. With its flexibility it frees you from budgetary constraints. These categories of travelers are prone to loss of some of their personal belongings and require to be protected for the same. You can choose the accessories and equipments you want to be insured for. The disadvantage is that you can not get insurance for everything and have to make a choice about those which you think are absolutely essential requirements for you. You save expenses by not insuring every thing. If you have the idea to work also during your holiday or stay then this is not for you. For this you have to buy a gap year policy which will include your work
Travel insurance policies insure you for a specified sum. For example medical expenses up to $20 million, luggage loss up to $16,00, trip cancellation up to $3000 may be covered for. Depending on the medical emergency the policy will cover your medical bills. If the condition is really grave only then you will be covered by the policy.
Before buying the policy proper you should give a serious thought to the number of times you have to travel in a year and your baggage. A right evaluation will enormously help you to make right choice. Do not compare your case with others as requirements differ from case to case. What works best for someone else may not be of any or much use to you and vice versa. With a correct picture of your needs you will be in a better position to choose the policy which tailors to you needs. Also read all the information given by the policy as all travel insurance policies differ in their terms and conditions, rules, and standards.

Las Vegas Poker Superstar Stu Ungar
Posted by Ross Everett in 1 on January 6th, 2010
Stu Ungar didn’t have much going for him in most areas of life. In fact, it could very well be argued that he was downright inept in most areas of existence. He also had a self destructive streak that manifest itself in heavy drug use and other behaviors. Ungar, however, had one great gift–he was a prodigy with a deck of cards. He would become one of the first superstars of poker before it became a fixture on ESPN, but wouldn’t live to enjoy the ‘boom’. Ungar would eventually be done in by his baser elements, and would be found dead in a Las Vegas hotel room in November,’88.
Ungar’s skills at the poker table were like Mozart’s at the piano. While countless volumes of poker strategy and theory have been written, Ungar’s understanding of the game was downright instinctive. Ungar’s greatest achievement was his three World Series of Poker victories, but he won millions in informal games and profitable card room sessions. The amazing thing about Ungar’s sheer mastery of Texas Hold’em was the fact that it was the third card game he had mastered. Ungar first came to Las Vegas as a gin rummy prodigy; he had beaten all of the good players on the East Coast and moved to the desert mecca in search of new opportunities. He had soon run the table of Nevada’s gin players, and then turned to blackjack out of necessity. He was quickly barred as a card counter at a number of Southern Nevada casinos. Needing a new vocation, he took up poker.
The problem, however, was that as masterful as Ungar was at life in the poker room, he was profoundly inept at existence beyond the casino walls. He fought a number of addictions-most notably to drugs and sports gambling. Following his WSOP victory in’97, the’98 tourney found him broke and almost wasted away from drug use. Though he had secured financial backing that would have enabled him to play, as the games began Ungar sat in the dark in his hotel room at Binion’s unable to compose himself enough to appear.
There are countless other Ungar stories that evoke the same theme: he once paid cash for a new Mercedes and drove it until it simply fell apart from lack of basic maintenance. He signed his mortgage paperwork at the table in the Dunes poker room and was taken aback that he couldn’t make his down payment in chips.
Tragically, Ungar’s death came as he’d began to show signs of turning his life around. Noted casino owner and longtime friend Bob Stupak had stepped in to help Ungar pay off his debts, clean up his life, and provide the stake money to enter the major poker tournaments. Ungar was found two days after the two had formalized the agreement in a contract. Ungar also left behind an ex-wife and a teenage daughter, who still live in Las Vegas. The official cause of death was listed as “coronary atherosclerosis” and a mixture of drugs including cocaine, methadone and Percodan were found in his system.
Most of the famous gamblers of Las Vegas legend-guys like Puggy Person and Doyle Brunson– have been tough, larger than life individuals with a healthier than normal dose of self-preservation skills. In this respect, Ungar was an anomaly among gambling greats-he was physically frail and almost completely helpless away from the poker table. With a handful of cards and a pile of chips, however, he became a ruthless and indomitable warrior. His story is certainly not one that the modern day, publicity conscious Las Vegas will celebrate. He will be remembered, however, as part of the tradition that gives the city its unique character. From the mobsters that pioneered the city, to the Rat Pack that civilized it, to the corporations that cleaned it up, characters like Stu Ungar have provided the spice that makes Las Vegas America’s ‘Paris in the desert’. Ungar may never have a statue on Fremont Street, but his spirit will live on.

An Introduction To NFL Totals
Posted by Ross Everett in Currency & Finance on December 29th, 2009
For the NFL handicapper, understanding the methodology behind NFL totals (also called over/under numbers) is crucial. For those not familiar with NFL totals, its the large number youll see accompanying most pointspread betting propositions. For example, the 2009 Superbowl line opened with Pittsburgh a 6 point favorite over Arizona. The total was set at 47. Simply stated, the total allows the better to decide whether the combined score between the two teams will go OVER or UNDER.
NFL totals are a favorite tool of serious sports handicappers. Many are of the opinion that its easier to accurately foretell the *type* of game that will transpire between two teams rather than who will actually win and by how much.
The basics of setting NFL totals are fairly simple: the bookmaker looks at the offensive and defensive data for the two teams and constructs a number based on points allowed and points scored. If one team had scored 275 points and allowed 350 in their previous sixteen games thats a total of 625 and their opponent had scored 285 and allowed 400 (685) over 16 games that translates to just under 43 points per game. Add the two numbers together, divide by two and youve got a base total of 40.5.
At this point other factors are considered such as the significance of key numbers like 3 and 7 on final scores, weather conditions, injuries, playing surface, etc. Another component that is important is the qualitative matchup between the offense and defense of each team”meaning that a team with a strong defense will be more likely to dictate the tempo’ of a game resulting in a lower final score. All of these factors weigh into a final NFL total that is posted for betting.
Of course as in the case of the NFL pointspread, public perception is a crucial component of the linesmaking process. For example, the conventional wisdom is that bad weather like rain, snow, or sleet results in lower scores and for that reason a bookmaker will shade the total accordingly. However, its not quite that simple–some handicappers would maintain that sloppy weather can produce higher scores in certain situations.
In conclusion, NFL totals are a very good opportunity for a hard working handicapper to leverage his information about a situational matchup to find good wagering value. Like most elements of the sports handicapping discipline, its not easy to stay a step ahead of the bookmakers who have access to the same weather and injury–and have factored it into the number–but is a very entertaining and potentially rewarding challenge for the NFL betting enthusiast.

The History Of The Motorcycle Past Present And Future
Posted by L.J. James in Currency & Finance on December 25th, 2009
Many of the “facts” in this story are based on Legend and Myth as much of the history of the Motorcycle and it’s Culture was lost in the Great Rebellion of 2057.
Taken from a history book in the year 2095… Motorcycles And The Culture They Inspire 1868-2017
Motorcycles started out as steam engines strapped on to bicycles in 1868. Soon after the gas engine took its place and by the 1900’s there were Motorcycle shops and Dealers all over the World. For awhile, Motorcycle’s were simply used as transportation. In 1907, when Henry Fords, Ford Motor Company, released the Model-T at a price many could afford, the Motorcycle soon went from a necessity to a luxury item.
In the 1940’s, the Motorcycle Culture really took off. An organization called the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) held races and events all over the United States of America. In 1947 the AMA held an event in Hollister California. This event was attended by many of the AMA Racing Teams and Motorcycle Clubs. This event marks the beginning of the separation of Motorcyclists which eventually led to the end of Motorcycling in the year 2017. Newspapers, being what they where in 1947, got a hold of some pictures of Motorcyclists having fun at the event. The press decided to embellish the facts and transformed the story into a torrid tale of Bikers taking over a small town! More negative news stories soon followed. Soon after Hollywood began releasing movies that portrayed Motorcyclists as lawless and evil.
The American Motorcyclist Association, trying to end the bad press, responded by basically saying that the Newspapers had lied and that it was only 1% of the Motorcyclists that caused problems. This resulted in the first ripple in the Unity of the Motorcycle World and the Medias’ hatred of Bikers. Around the same time, the AMA began adding new requirements for motorcycles to be able to race in AMA sanctioned Races. Those whose motorcycles didn’t meet the new AMA requirements started their own Race Leagues. Because the new Race Leagues/Clubs were not AMA sanctioned, they soon became known as Outlaw Race Leagues/Clubs. Although many Bikers raced in both the AMA and Outlaw Leagues, another great separation had begun.
By the late 1960’s, the separation of the Motorcycle Community was becoming more evident. There were now three basic Motorcycle groups. The American Motorcycle Association, Outlaw/ 1%er Clubs(All 1%ers were Outlaws, but not all Outlaws were considered 1%ers) and Independent Riders. Over the years, the AMA continued to grow. In addition to racing, they began to champion Motorcycle Rights and Safety. As time went on, others formed independent groups whose goals were similar to that of the AMA. The inability or outright refusal of these groups to work together with each other, resulted in further separation of the Motorcycle Community and Culture.
In the 1970’s, rifts began to grow between some of the Outlaw/1% Clubs. By the 1990’s, the media had inflated these conflicts into stories that rivaled the tall tales of the old west. These tall tales where ment to invoked fear of the Outlaw/1% Clubs in the public. Everyone was lied to,. They were told to stay away from and fear all Outlaw/1% Clubs. The media began referring to Motorcycle Clubs as Motorcycle Gangs, a term meant to further instill fear into the heart of the Public. Stories and rumors began surfacing, claiming these “Gangs” were ruthless and would kill or maim people for little or no reason at all. By the early 21st Century, every minor conflict between Outlaw/1% Clubs was made into a book, made for TV movie, or docudrama. Titles like “Motorcycle Gang Wars In Your Back Yard” were common. Although real wars, conflicts, and suffering were occurring worldwide, the Corporate owned media chose to report fiction over fact.
In 2009, a conflict between two rival Clubs was captured on Video at a “Biker Build Off” event. The coverage by the media and negative publicity that followed was so overwhelming that in 2010, the United States Government passed a law banning all Outlaw/1% Clubs. In response, the Outlaw/1% Clubs put aside their differences and formed “Bikers United”. The Bikers fought back stating the law was unconstitutional and un-American. Even as late as 2010, Many Americans still clung to the misguided belief that they had rights and lived in a free Nation. The Bikers fought hard and came very close to winning, but without the support of the Motorcycle Rights Groups,The many other Clubs, and the Independent Riders, all of whom had been brainwashed into believing the Outlaw Clubs were criminal organizations, they were defeated.
Many of the Outlaw/1% Clubs tried to stay together. The Clubs went underground, but after many raids and constant Government harassment, they all but disappeared. In 2013, in an effort to ensure that the Outlaw/1% Clubs never returned, the Government decided to outlaw all Motorcycle Clubs and organizations. The AMA, the many Clubs and Motorcycle Rights Organizations United in an effort to battle the Governments oppression. They tried to use many of the same tactics and strategies that the Outlaw/1% Clubs used. Unfortunately, the Government was much smarter and stronger this time around. They had learned many lessons in their fierce battles with the Outlaw/1% Clubs, and they used what they had learned against the united Clubs and Organizations. With no Outlaw/1% Clubs left to assist them and without the support of the Independent Riders, the United Clubs and Organizations were defeated.
In 2015, the Government passed a law that made it illegal to even look like an Outlaw on a Motorcycle. The Independent Riders banned together to try and fight the law, but by this time their numbers were few and there wasn’t anyone left to show them how to fight for their rights. After a brief protest, they too were soundly defeated. In 2017, What was now a “Global Government”, in its infinite wisdom, decided that Motorcycles posed a danger to the public. They passed a law banning the manufacturing of Motorcycle’s and their use! They ordered that all existing Motorcyclesbe destroyed. This brought to an end, the History of Motorcycles. It would take until the year 2093 before anything even close to resembling a Motorcycle reappeared.
As a Historian looking back at the History of Motorcycles and the Culture it created, it amazes me how powerful the Motorcycle Culture could have been had they not let every little thing separate them. Instead of embracing something they all had in common and working together to protect it, they instead let their differences, the media, and the government divide them. By the time the Bikers realized how much they were connected and needed each other, it was too late. Their numbers were certainly sufficient to achieve victory, but their failure to come together as Brothers and Sisters and work for the common good ultimately caused their demise. Had they been victorious, it may have been enough to stop all of the oppression and tyranny that soon followed. History is full of stories just like this one, over and over again. The ones who love and honor Freedom the most are taken down first and the rest soon fall like dominoes. Until the Great Rebellion of 2057, we as a Global Society did not realize how important it was to put aside our differences. It may have taken awhile, but we finally figured it out…Just in time!
